Abstract Residential Paintings

What Inspired this Form of Art?

For most of my life, I had been able to create art, but I often struggled to enjoy it. I was always so proud whenever I finished a work, but the process of trying to convey the object or person realistically typically brought out a lot of stress and perfectionism. Working with clay was one of my first experiences with abstract art. It was one of the few times I had actually really enjoyed art. So, I wanted to see if I would have a similar experience with abstract painting. I am fairly new to the realm of abstract painting, but I have found it to be so freeing. It seemed almost “easy” and therapeutic. I was allowed to make lots of mistakes and work with them: some of my craziest mistakes have actually evolved into some of my favorite pieces. This process allowed me to free myself from any expectations—all I had to do was create.
